Move-In Parking & Directions

This page was last updated July 18, 2024.

We look forward to welcoming you to campus for Move-In! For new incoming freshmen and transfer students, Move-In takes place on August 20  and August 21. For continuing students, Move-In takes place on August 20.

Please review the instructions on this page for details on parking and directions.

Be Prepared to Show Your Move-In Time Slot on Mobile Device: Be ready to show your Move-In Time Slot confirmation (found in the Housing portal) when you’re in your car on the way to your housing unit. Some streets will be restricted to only students moving in, so you may be asked to show proof that you’re attending Move-In in order to access certain streets. You’ll also need your Move-In Time Slot confirmation upon check-in.

Print and Fill Out Your Parking Permit: You’ll receive a parking permit ahead of time via email. Please print it out and fill out ahead of time, as you will need it for free two-hour parking.

20-Minute Unloading zones: Each location will have a designated loading zone where you will be able to temporarily park for unloading during your time slot. Once you are done unloading, you will need to move your vehicle. You may park for a maximum of 20 minutes at all unloading zones, except Foothill, where you may park in the unloading zone for up to 40 minutes. The driver must remain with the vehicle at all times.

Free Two-Hour Move-in Parking on Aug. 20-21: After unloading your car, it is recommended that you move your car to one of the specific campus lots offering free move-in parking. Street parking is also available, but it is metered or has time limits. Plan ahead and review directions and maps prior to arriving. Please be prepared for weekday traffic and additional traffic in and around campus related to Move In.

Move-In Maps

Custom maps for each housing unit will be added to this page by early August, and residents will receive parking maps and additional details via email at that time.

Parking Lots With Free Move-In Parking

After you unload your belongings in the unloading zone, please move your car in order to make space for other students moving in. You and/or your Move-In helpers may park in specific University-owned lots for two hours at no cost on Move-In days. By early August, this page will be updated with a list of free move-in parking lots for campus housing buildings.

Longer-Term Parking

After your two-hour free parking period, you will need to move your car.  Metered street parking is also available in many locations. Below are a few available parking garages.
