The Berkeley area is a great place to have a family. In addition to many beautiful parks and wonderful museums, there are also a number of resources that families can access.
- The Recreation Program in University Village offers a variety of gymnastics and sports classes for children of all ages. Families may also enjoy Family Movie Night at Smyth Fernwald, held every 3rd Friday of the month at 7:00pm in the Community Center.
- The Community Garden is a nice way for families to bond while growing healthy food! Our current garden contact is Katy Haden. Email her to find out if there are any plots open for your own family to have a garden plot. Residents are welcome to come visit the garden any time. Please accompany your young children.
- You may access the small weight room, the study library, and the Academic Center at the Clark Kerr campus during open hours. To sign up for an account, go to the Academic Center and show an ID proving your residency at Smyth Fernwald. Keys may be ordered through the Smyth Fernwald Office. The Clark Kerr facilities key can be kept until you give notice and return your keys after you move out.
- You can get involved in the Smyth Fernwald community by joining the Smyth Fernwald Residents Association. The SFRA meets every other month on the 4th Tuesday of the month following the Town Hall meeting with Housing officials.
